Anderson Controls, Inc.

Innovative Solutions for Quality Control

Anderson Controls, Inc. has designed the next generation of process monitors for cold heading, thread rolling, metal stamping, metal cutting, drilling, and many other consistency type processes. After almost 20 years of leading the industry with a family of low cost consistency monitors (ACE 100/150, ACE 200,400,600 plus), we are now proud to introduce the newest addition to our inventory of innovative solutions, the INSIGHT. This is a welcomed process monitor with many of the well known features of the original ACE family, but also includes many upgrades that reflect our customers need for reliability, detection ability, and a user friendly interface.

The INSIGHT was designed to be versatile, giving it the ability to be easily incorporated with a variety of machines and applications. One step in making that possible is a new power supply designed to let the INSIGHT function normally under varying voltage conditions. Voltage can be anywhere between 86V and 280V, and will still let the INSIGHT operate normally. This gives our customers more options when it comes to supplying power to the unit, and also makes installation easier. In addition, it solves the problem of customers who have fluctuations in there voltage that sometimes causes their consistency monitor’s to not function properly.

Another added benefit to the INSIGHT is its 6” LCD display. The INSIGHT has the ability to monitor up to 8 inputs, and all 8 channels and their limits are clearly shown on the main display.  Also displayed on the main screen are the total, shift, tool, and part counts, along with the RPM and time/date. This gives the operator the ability to view all of the information, on up to 8 channels, and never have to touch a button. The INSIGHT also has the ability to monitor either the “peak” of the signal, or the “area” underneath the signal curve. This gives our customers more choices as to how the INSIGHT monitors force signals.

Noise can sometimes be a problem when monitoring certain applications, that’s why the INSIGHT was designed with this in mind. It has the ability to adjust the cam to filter out noises and unwanted signals, all through the LCD Display. By going to the “cursor” screen, the operator can adjust the cam to only read the signal of the job, and filter out everything else. This gives the INSIGHT a cleaner signal to work with, and let’s the operator set the limits closer, providing a more accurate reading. Also, the cam signal can be adjusted through software, eliminating the need for an oscilloscope, or manually adjusting the cam itself to try to clean up the signal. The INSIGHT also has a 2 cam version, which allows the use of two proximity sensors to allow monitoring two sensors with different timing at the same time.

The INSIGHT uses a variety of different sensors to monitor applications. Force sensors include piezo disc sensors, 8mm probe sensors, and short feed blocks to monitor for short feeds on wire stops. Also, distance sensing can be accomplished using our P/D sensor (proximity/Distance sensor), a non-contact sensor used to measure distance of ram movement. The P/D sensor is installed on top of the machine, saving the time and hassle of removing wedges or backing plates.

All of this makes the INSIGHT a valuable addition to anyone in need of consistency monitoring. Our trained sales and service technicians are available to help you with any questions or concerns you may have, and can help with finding the right version to fit your quality controls needs.
